Remove “-1” Rent Values from RentCafe Data Feed

Overview
When a floor plan shows a rent of “-1” on your website, it usually means RentCafe doesn’t have any units mapped to that floor plan or the pricing display settings are pulling only from available units. Updating a few settings in RentCafe usually resolves this.

Fix option 1
Update how apartments display for the floor plan:

  1. Log in to your RentCafe Site Manager

  2. Go to Content & Settings > Floor Plans

  3. Select the Apartments tab on the right

  4. Update the Displaying Apartments That Are setting to one that includes units (instead of only Available)

This ensures RentCafe can return a rent value even when certain units aren’t currently available.

Fix option 2
Adjust pricing display rules:

  1. Log in to your RentCafe Site Manager

  2. Go to Content & Settings > Settings

  3. Open the Pricing Settings section

  4. For the For Fully Occupied Floor Plans Display option, choose one of these:

    • Call for Details (may still return “-1” if no units exist)

    • Actual Rent Range (recommended – shows the rent range even if no units are available)

    • Revenue Management Floor Plan Pricing (less common setup)

If you’ve tried both options and the “-1” values are still coming through, it likely means something in the data feed or floor plan setup needs adjustment. We recommend reaching out to Yardi/RentCafe Support so they can review the configuration directly on their side.
