Resi V2: How to Partition a Global Content Block
How to create a property-specific copy of a global content block so you can make changes to one property without affecting all others that share it.
Before You Start
Applies to: Resi V2 only.
Why you'd do this: You need to change a headline, image, or CTA for one specific property, but that content block is currently shared (global) across many sites.
What Is Partitioning?
When you Partition a global content block, Resi creates an independent local copy of that block for the specific property you're working in. The global block continues to exist and serve all other attached properties unchanged. Your local copy is yours to edit freely — changes to it will only affect this one property.
Think of it like making your own editable copy of a shared document while leaving the original intact for everyone else.
Step-by-Step: Partition a Content Block
- Navigate to the property you want to customize.
- Click Content in the left sidebar.
- Find the content block you want to customize — confirm it has a Shared tag.
- Click into the block.
- Click the Partition button.
- Confirm the prompt.
- The block now shows no Shared tag — it's a local copy, independent of the global version.
- Make your edits to the local copy.
- Click Save Changes → Clear Website Cache.
What Happens to the Global Block?
Nothing changes for any other property. The global block continues to exist in Global Content → Content Blocks and remains attached to all other properties. You can verify this by going to Global Content and confirming the block still shows its original property count (minus this one).
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Forgetting to Partition before editing — if you edit a global block at the property level without partitioning, the app will prevent you (it's read-only at the property level). But in Global Content, anyone can edit the global version — so always confirm which context you're in.
- Leaving two versions of the same block active on a property after re-connecting to the global block later — always clean up the old local copy. See How to Reattach a Property to a Global Content Block →.
- Over-partitioning — partition only when you genuinely need property-specific content. The power of Resi is global content at scale — use it wherever possible.

I don't see a Partition button |
You may already be on a property-specific (non-shared) block, or you may not have Power User permissions. Check for the Shared tag and confirm your access level. |

My partitioned block is still showing the old content |
Did you Save Changes and Clear Website Cache? Wait 60–90 seconds and hard-refresh. |

I accidentally partitioned the wrong block |
You can re-attach it to the global block. See How to Reattach a Property to a Global Content Block →. |
