Resi V2: How to Reattach a Property to a Global Content Block

How to reconnect a property back to a global (shared) content block after it has been partitioned or detached — and how to safely clean up the old local copy.

Before You Start

Applies to: Resi V2 only.
Important: After reattaching, you'll temporarily have two versions of the block on the property. You must disable or delete the old local copy to avoid duplicate content appearing on the website.

Step-by-Step: Reattach to a Global Block

  1. Go to Global Content → Content Blocks in the left sidebar.
  2. Find the global block you want this property to re-join.

💡 Use the search bar to find it quickly. The block name should match the naming convention.

  3. Click into the block.
  4. Scroll to the property assignment section at the bottom.
  5. Search for your property and attach it.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Navigate back to the property → Content Blocks.
  8. You'll now see two versions of the block — one with the Shared tag (the re-attached global one) and one without (the old local copy).
  9. Click into the old non-shared block.
  10. Either disable it (recommended) or delete it.
  11. Click SaveClear Website Cache.

Alternative: Detach Directly from the Property

You can also remove a property from a global block from the property level:

  1. Navigate to the property → Content Blocks.
  2. Find the shared block and click into it.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Detach Property.
  4. Save → Clear cache.

💡 Use this method when you want to completely remove a block from a property (e.g., disabling a section that isn't relevant to this property), rather than replacing it with a local version.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Leaving two active versions of the same block on a property — this is the most common issue after reattaching. Always check for and clean up the old local copy.
  • Deleting the global block instead of the local one — double-check the Shared tag before deleting. The one with the Shared tag is the global version — keep it.
  • Not clearing the cache — the old content may continue showing on the live site until you do.

Solution

Two versions of a section are showing on the live site

You have two active blocks for the same section. Go to the property → Content Blocks, identify the old local (non-shared) block, and disable or delete it. Then clear cache.

I can't find the property in the global block's assignment list

Make sure you're searching by the exact property name. Try a partial keyword if the full name isn't matching.

The block isn't showing on the site after reattaching

Did you disable/delete the old local copy? Did you clear cache? Check both.
