Resi V2: How to Update Floor Plans and Units
How floor plan and unit data flows from your PMS into Resi V2, how to manually sync updates, and the critical step required when reassigning units to a different floor plan.
Before You Start
Applies to: Resi V2 only. Important: Most floor plan data in most situations will sync from your PMS. Before making any changes in Resi, confirm whether the update should originate in your PMS or in Resi.
How Floor Plan Data Works in V2
Floor plan data — name, bed/bath count, square footage, pricing — syncs directly from your PMS and is indicated by the purple shield
icon throughout the floor plan view. This data cannot be edited in Resi directly.
Unit availability, pricing, and floor plan assignments also come from your PMS via your scheduled sync.
Viewing Floor Plans and Units
- Navigate to your property in the Resi App.
- Click Floor Plans in the left sidebar.
- Click into any floor plan to see:
- Data tab — synced details (most will show the purple shield)
- Media tab — images and virtual tours for this floor plan (editable)
- Units tab — list of units currently assigned to this floor plan
💡 On the Units tab, click any column header to sort. A green checkmark in the Available column means that unit is currently available.
Adding or Updating Floor Plan Media
Floor plan images and virtual tours are managed within Resi (not synced from the PMS).
- Navigate to the property → Floor Plans.
- Click into the floor plan you want to update.
- Click the Media tab.
- To add images: click Upload Image.
- To add a virtual tour: paste the virtual tour URL in the designated field.
- Save and clear cache.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Running a sync without deleting units first when reassigning floor plans — the sync will not override existing connections. Always delete units from the old floor plan in Resi before syncing.
- Trying to edit PMS-synced floor plan names in Resi — these must be changed in your PMS, then synced.
- Forgetting to clear the cache after a sync — your floor plan changes won't appear on the live site until the cache is cleared.
- Deleting a floor plan entirely in Resi — don't do this unless instructed. Only delete units within a floor plan, not the floor plan itself.
Troubleshooting
|
Problem |
Solution |
|
Units aren't showing under the correct floor plan after a sync |
Delete the units from the old floor plan in Resi first, then run the sync again. |
|
A floor plan name is wrong on the website |
Floor plan names sync from Entrata. Update the name there, then run a Resi sync. |
|
Pricing looks outdated on the live site |
Run a manual sync from Connections. Pricing comes from your PMS on a cycle set in your Connections. |
|
Floor plan page shows no available units |
Check that units are marked available in your PMS. Run a sync, then clear the cache. |
|
I deleted units and now they're not coming back after sync |
Check the PMS connection for errors in the log. Submit a support ticket if the sync shows errors. |
Advanced Topic: Reassigning Units to a Different Floor Plan
In Resi V2, units do not automatically update their floor plan assignment if they are already connected to a floor plan — even after a PMS sync. If you've changed unit-to-floor-plan assignments in your PMS, at the moment Resi will not reflect this automatically.
The correct process to update floor plan assignments:
- In the Resi App, navigate to the property → Floor Plans.
- Go to the floor plan that currently holds the units you need to reassign.
- Click the Units tab.
- Delete all units from that floor plan inside Resi.
⚠️ Don't skip this step. If units remain connected to their old floor plan in Resi, the sync will not override them. - Go to Connections in the left sidebar.
- Find the property and click Sync to trigger a fresh pull from your PMS.
- Optional: Check the log for "Finished" status.
- Return to Floor Plans — units should now appear under the correct floor plan as updated in thePMS.
- Click Clear Website Cache to push the changes to the live site.
💡 Why does this happen? Resi V2 treats an existing unit-to-floor-plan connection as confirmed data and won't overwrite it during a sync — this prevents accidental data loss. The delete + resync process is the intentional way to force a reassignment.
